On 9 June 2016, we (the fans) got the opportunity to watch the Hawks and Heat in action.  The Hawks reported with the hope of returning to the winners' column after dropping two consecutive games: one to the Nets and one to the Bulls.  The Heat reported feeling "confident" about winning.  The Hawks walked in with a 5 - 8 record and the Heat strutted their stuff with a 6 - 7 record.

The Hawks' starting lineup consisted of: #11 Kenyatta Hardge, #21 Frank Wilcox, #25 Roderick Williams, #34 Ernest Adams, and #0 Michael Smith.  The Heat's starting lineup consisted of:  #3 Michael Brown, #11 Norman King, #27 Christopher Alexander, #15 Johnny Sanchez, and #17 Felton Scott.

The game started with the Hawks winning the tip-off and first possession.  The Hawks came out with a lot of energy and hustle.  What I did not expect to see, from the start, was to watch the Heat spending so much time walking up and down the court as if they had already played a full game without a break.  I was even more shocked to see so much clowning around.  The Hawks called the only timeout,  in the first half, with 12:13 remaining.  The score was 10 - 14 in favor of the Heat.  Five Hawks scored in the first half with Kenyatta Hardge leading his team with 9 points.  Ernest Adams added 8 points and Michael Smith contributed 6 points.  Seven Heat players scored with Michael Brown (#3) leading the team with 10 points.  Both teams committed five team fouls.  The first half ended with the Heat leading the Hawks 31 - 29.

Before the second half began, I interviewed Michael Brown and asked him why were they playing around with a score so close.  His response was, "Confidence".  Well, the score remained close throughout the second half with both teams tying at 36, 46, and 59.  The Hawks outscored the Heat 31 - 30.  Ernest Adams (#34) led the Hawks with 11 points, #21 Frank Wilcox with 6 points, and #11 Kenyatta Hardge with 6 points.  The Heat were led by #27 Christopher Alexander with 9 points and #17 Felton Scott with 7 points.  The Heat committed 11 team fouls that sent the Hawks to the free throw line several times.  The Hawks scored on 10 free throws, but missed several to include two that would have given them a 62 - 61 win.  The first free throw was negated due to a lane violation, by the shooter, and he missed the second shot that could have tied the score.  I don't know if "Confidence" won the game for the Heat, but maybe luck, clairvoyance, or the Hawks helped them win.  The Hawks called their final timeout with 11.7 seconds remaining while trailing the Heat 60 - 61.  The Heat ran out the remainder of the clock and "confidently" walked away with a 61 - 60 victory and a new record of 7 - 7.

The Heat's scorers were:  #17 Felton Scott with 14 points, #3 Michael Brown with 13 points, #27 Christopher Alexander with 11 points, #15 Johnny Sanchez with 8 points, #11 Norman King with 4 points, #24 Sidney Dowlen with 4 points, #8 Antonio Anthony with 3 points, #13 Donald Brophy with 2 points, and #33 Otis Lewis with 2 points.

The Hawks' scorers were:  #34 Ernest Adams with 19 points, #11 Kenyatta Hardge with 15 points, #21 Frank Wilcox with 10 points, #0 Michael Smith with 8 points, #23 Yohance Thompson with 7 points, and #25 Roderick Williams with 1 point,
