I am amazed at the level of defensive and offensive aggression, Tony Reese (#42) and Trea Tells (#25), bring to the Nets.  It was definitely on display last night (12 May 2016) against the Heat.  Though they were not the scoring leaders, their style of play set the tone for the other team members to follow.

The starting lineup, for the Nets, were: #21 Keith LaFavor, #32 Willie Walker, #40 Willie Filmore, #30 Rodney Patrick, and #42 Tony Reese.  The starting lineup, for the Heat, were: #3 Michael Brown, #4 Bryan Short, #11 Norman King, #15 Johnny Sanchez, and #27 Christopher Alexander.

The Nets received the first possession and gathered a 15 - 0 lead before the Heat scored their first point - which was a free throw.  The Heat had open shots, to include layups, but the pressure from the Nets had a lot to do with those missed attempts.  I believe the fast pace of the game caught the Heat players off guard.  The pace never stopped from the beginning to the end.  The pace of the game was so intense that the Heat only scored 16 first half points.  Three players scored with #24 Sidney Dowlen scoring 7 first half points.  The Nets were led by #30 Rodney Patrick with 10 points.  Lamont Shuford (#45) added 9 points and Trea Tells (#25) scored 8 points.  The Nets shocked the Heat with a 40 - 16 first half lead.

The Heat settled down in the second, but it was too late to close the deficit.  Johnny Sanchez (#15), of the Heat, stepped up big to score 18 second half points, but no other player scored more than 5 points.  The Nets continued their rumble by scoring 46 second half points.  They were led by #32 Willie Walker with 12 points.  Trea Tells (#25) continued scoring with 9 points.

The Nets' scorers were:  #32 Willie Walker with 19 points, #25 Trea Tells with 17, #45 Lamont Shuford with 15, #30 Rodney Patrick with 12, #42 Tony Reese with 12, #21 Keith LaFavor with 8, and #40 Willie Filmore with 3 points.

The Heat's scorers were:  #15 Johnny Sanchez with 18 points, #8 Antonio Anthony with 11, #24 Sidney Dowlen with 11, #33 Otis Lewis with 5, #4 Bryan Short with 4, #7 Bernard Smith with 3, and #3 Michael Brown with 2 points.

The Nets defeated the Heat 86 - 54.
