On Monday, 21 August 2017, the Celtics and 76ers returned to North Highland Assembly of God's Church Gymnasium to either closeout the season, with a designated team of champions, or to extend the best-of-three series to a third and deciding game.  The game would become a repeat rivalry between to teams that combined for 13 NOSBL Championship Titles.  The Celtics entered the evening with eight (8) titles versus five (5) for the 76ers.  Both teams had their full roster of personnel present.  So, there would be no excuses for losing.  Last season, the 76ers spoiled the Celtics run for a repeat title and this season, the Celtics wanted redemption by thwarting the 76ers from a title repeat.

The Celtics represented the home team and the 76ers represented the visitors.  The action literally started at the time of the tip-off.  The 76ers received possession and scored the first two points.  The Celtics followed-up with one better - scoring from three point range to take a 3 - 2 point lead.  The teams would share nine (9) lead changes and two ties in the first half.  The Celtics took the lead with a 21 - 17 score and never let it go.  The Celtics ended the first half with a five point lead of 40 - 35.  Eight players scored for the Celtics and five scored for the 76ers.  Jerel Jackson (#24) scored on three 3-point shots to lead the Celtics with nine (9) points.  He was assisted with 8 points from Sterling Hicks (#24), 8 points from Ralph Mathews (#00), 8 points from Sterling Hicks (#32), 7 points from Christopher None (#15), and 2 points - each - from Steve Woodson (#2), Cedric Jones (#5), James Daniels (#20), and Tim Woodson (#34).

The 76ers' played excellent ball, as well.  Tim Sanks (#23) led all players with 12 first half points.  He was assisted by (#24) Marcus Watkins with 9 points, (#43) Lester Hood with 8 points, (#34) Willie Tennyson with 3 points, and (#1) Tony Campbell with 3 points.

The second half was almost played with identical results.  The Celtics ended the second half with another five point lead: 42 - 37.  It was clear that the 76ers entered the second half focused on keeping the Cetics' Jerel Jackson from scoring and he didn't, but they failed to contain Steve Woodson (12 points), Christopher None (11 points), Sterling Hicks (10 points), James Daniels (5 points), and Ralph Mathews (4 points).

The 76ers improved by two points to score 37 points in the second half.  Tim Sanks made every attempt to outscore the Celtics with another 12 point half.  Marcus Watkins, Tony Campbell, Tony Flemming, and Lester Hood scored on seven 3-point attempts in an effort to push the series to three games.  With an additional four points coming from Lester Hood, the 76ers could not extend the series and were swept by the Celtics in two games.  The Celtics defeated the 76ers 82 - 72 and captured their ninth NOSBL Championship Title.

The Celtics outnumbered the 76ers, in rebounds, 37 - 20, and in assists 19 - 10.
