On 3 January 2017, Tim Sanks, Marcus Watkins, and Lester Hood led the 76ers to an impressive win over the challenging Bulls.  It was a hard-fought game.  The Bull outnumbered the 76ers, in rebounds, 34 - 20 and led the 76ers, in steals, 9 - 3.  The 76ers stepped-up their game by leading the Bulls, in assists, 17 - 14.  The 76ers have definitely figured things out as they move closer to challenging the Hawks for the #1 seed and force in the Western Division. 

The game started with both teams exchanging leads five times and tying the score at 12 before the 76ers gained control to end the first half 40 - 31.  Marcus Watkins (#24) led the 76ers with five 3-pointers for 15 points.  Navarro Davis (#45) led the Bulls with 13 points.  No other Bull scored more than four (4) points in the first half.  Tim Sanks (#23) accompanied Marcus Watkins with scoring 9 points as he closes in on the league's scoring title that he has won two consecutive seasons.

Both teams elevated their games by scoring 53 and 45 points in the second half.  The Bulls fell behind 16 points (56 - 40) at 15:22, but closed the gap to 4 points at 11:26 of the second half.  Tim Sanks became the major scorer, for the 76ers, as he tacked on 22 points along with 12 points from (#45) Lester Hood.  The Bulls put on a good fight with four players raising their first half scoring.  Navarro Davis (#45) led the Bulls with 16 points, (#11) Bernard Jones with 10 points, (#24) Elliott Reid with 9 points, and (#33) Ian Trowers with 6 points.  With 2:21 remaining in the game, the 76ers accrued an 84 - 66 point lead to put the game out of reach for the Bulls.  The 76ers defeated the Bulls 93 - 76 and moved up the "winners" bracket to 12 - 5 in the league and a close second in the Western Division.

The scorers for the Bulls were:  (#33) Ian Trowers with 8 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal; (#10) Desi Johnson with 8 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal; (#34) Leo Preyer with 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 steal; (#11) Bernard Jones with 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists; (#45) Navarro Davis with 29 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals; (#24) Elliott Reid with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

The scorers for the 76ers were:  (#34) Willie Tennyson with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists; (#1) Tony Campbell with 10 points and 1 steal; (#23) Tim Sanks with 31 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal; (#24) Marcus Watkins with 21 points, 1 rebound, 1 block, and 5 assists; (#40) Brian Short with 4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal; and (#45) Lester Hood with 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.
