The game between the Heat and Nets was very interesting, to me, because of their history in the league.  This game was played on 22 December 2016 at 8:00 p.m., following the game between the Hawks and 76ers.  The Nets showed up with the hope of winning their second game of the season.  I have a lot of admiration for the Nets' players because they have fought, within, to stay together for the sake of commitment, reputation, and the league.  At one point, they were on the brink of disbanding, but they dug-in and agreed to work things out.  The Heat, on the other hand, is a "Friendlier" group of teammates.  They avoid controversy and do what is necessary to make each other feel wanted.  The Heat has a winning record of 7 - 5, but it is definitely happening under the radar.  That is because they are not flashy - bringing attention to themselves.  It is easy to assess them based on past seasons because their wins are kept quiet just like their losses.

The game started with both teams accumulating numbers in every statistical category, except scoring.  The players were rusty following a long layoff due to conflicts with the schedule.  Ramard Morgan (#5) scored the first two points of the game for the Nets.  The Heat followed with two points from (#15) Johnny Sanchez.  Neither team had a player to score more than eight (8) points during the first half.  The Heat outscored the Nets 32 - 23 with (#31) Reginald Powell and (#31) Felton Scott scoring eight (8) points, each.  Ramard Morgan led the Nets with eight (8) first half points.  The Heat led the Nets 22 - 20 in rebounding and 6 - 5 in assists.

The second half did not produce much more in the area of scoring with both teams failing to match their first half scores.  Sidney Dowlen (#24) and Felton Scott led the Heat with seven and nine points, respectively.  Willie Filmore (#40) led the Nets with six (6) second half points.  Thirteen team fouls, from the Nets, allowed the Heat to score 12 points from free throws.  The Heat found a way to pull-off another win and defeated the Nets 56 - 45.

The scorers for the Nets were:  (#21) Keith LaFavor with 9 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 4 steals; (#32) Ramard Morgan with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 1 assist; (#40) Willie Filmore with 8 points, 2 assists and 1 steal; (#5) Alaster Anderson with 5 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal; (#30) Demetrius Jordan with 3 points and 1 rebound; (#31) Yohance Thompson with 3 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block, 4 assists and 2 steals; (#22) Jeffery Lemon with 2 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal; and (#45) Roderick Williams with 3 points and 3 rebounds.

The scorers for the Heat were:  (#11) Norman King Jr. with 3 points, 1 rebound, 5 assists and 1 steal; (#3) Michael Brown with 9 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals; (#13) Donald Brophy with 2 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal; (#15) Johnny Sanchez with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 1 steal; (#24) Sidney Dowlen with 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals; (#55) Roger Powell with 8 points and 7 rebounds; (#31) Felton Scott with 10 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal.
