Each team is scheduled to play their opponents three games during the regular season.  On 12 December 2016, the Heat and Kingdom Ballers met for the third time to break their one to one game split.  The Heat won the first game, on opening day of the season (1 October), 64 – 49.  The Kingdom Ballers returned the favor, on 7 November, by defeating the Heat 56 - 43.  On 12 December, the fans and players reported to North Highland Assembly of God's Church gymnasium to see which team would break the tie.  Both teams are performing well and have a good chance of advancing to the finals, if they stay focused and committed to the team's mission.

The first half of play consisted of six lead changes and two scoring ties.  The Kingdom Ballers attained the first possession and went up 2 - 0 following a score by Antonio Anthony (#34).  Roger Powell (#55) responded with a 3-point shot to put the Heat up 3 - 2.  Observing that early exchange made it clear that we were about to witness a close game.  Roger Powell scored 13 points and Johnny Sanchez (#15) added 11 points to put the Heat ahead following the last tying score at 21.  Johnny Sanchez grabbed seven of the Heat's 14 rebounds and committed two assists.  The Kingdom Ballers collected 17 rebounds with Lamont Shuford (#11) snatching five straight to close out the first half.  The Heat held on to lead the Kingdom Ballers 30 - 27.

The challenge, for both teams, always seems to come in the second half because they struggle to match their first half scoring.  The Kingdom Ballers outscored the Heat 16 to 13 points to tie the score at 43 then again at 45 and 47 before taking the lead for the rest of the game.  Lamont Shuford led the Ballers with 14 of the team's 34 points.  Lamont also grabbed 12 of the team's 18 rebounds.  Sidney Dowlen carried the Heat with 15 of the team's 21 second half points.  The Heat only accounted for eight rebounds, two assists, and one steal to end the game.  The Kingdom Ballers exceeded their first half score by seven (7) points and defeated the Heat 34 - 21 to lead their regular season series.

The scorers for the Heat were:  (#13) Donald Brophy with 5 points and 3 rebounds, (#55) Roger Powell with 14 points and 5 rebounds, (#24) Sidney Dowlen with 19 points and 3 rebounds, and (#15) Johnny Sanchez with 13 points and 9 rebounds.

The scorers for the Kingdom Ballers were:  (#31) Willie Haynes with 9 points and 3 steals, (#11) Lamont Shuford with 18 points and 17 rebounds, (#21) Wason Davis with 9 points and 5 rebounds, (#34) Antonio Anthony with 11 points and 3 rebounds, (#5) Christopher Mathis with 12 points and 5 rebounds, and (#2) Darrell Sumbry with 2 points and 3 rebounds.
