On Saturday, 10 December 2016, Quentin "The Human Machine" Leonard escorted the Hawks into the North Highland Assembly of God's gymnasium to battle against the Bombers. The Bombers reported with their leader, Cleotis "No Limit Soldier" Brown, as well. We expected to see a competitive game filled with spectacular highlights, but what we got to see was Quentin Leonard scoring 54 'selfless' points. I put emphasis on 'selfless' because Leonard does not play selfish basketball. He wants to see everybody playing with the intensity to win and he leads by example. He has a 'machine-like' drive that zones in on the mission and he does not shutdown until the game is over (win or lose). The Bombers have their 'machine', as well, in Cleotis Brown. Brown has the size to dominate inside and the skills to score from far behind the 3-point arc.
When you assess the teams, there is a recognizable difference. The Bombers rely on their 3-point shooting whether winning or losing. The Bombers will sacrifice making a 3-point shot over attempting a layup. That is a frustrating thing to watch. They have the size and team with the skill sets to score inside and out, but they prefer to score their points from behind the arc. Yesterday, they stayed true to their form against the Hawks and paid dearly. Quentin Leonard outscored the entire Bombers' team, during the first half, 28 - 26. His teammates also outscored the Bombers with 27 points. No Bomber scored more than six (6) points in the first half. The Bombers were led by James Dix (#10) with six points.
The second half was more impressive for the Bombers as they scored 54 points versus 45 for the Hawks. Cleotis Brown finally stepped up to score 18 points along with 16 points from (#22) Jimmy Forster and 13 points from (#38) Shederal Hughes. Ernest Adams scored nine (9) points to go along with 26 from Quentin Leonard to keep the Hawks a comfortable distance ahead of the Bombers. The Hawks defeated the Bombers 100 - 80 and extended their record to 13 and 1. The Bombers have dropped to a record of 6 and 8.
The scorers for the Bombers were: (#22) Jimmy Foster with 21 points, (#32) Cleotis Brown with 20 points, (#5) Keith Bridges with 4 points, (#10) James Dix with 10 points, (#33) Christopher Watson with 3 points, (#12) Jovan Ingersoll with 5 points, (#38) Shederal Hughes with 15 points, and (#31) Demon Walker with 2 points.
The scorers for the Hawks were: (#34) Ernest Adams with 13 points, (#21) Trea Tells with 10 points, (#24) Quentin Leonard with 54 points, (#15) Kenyatta Hardge with 13 points, and (#33) Shaun Jenkins with 10 points.
