Last evening, 28 November 2016, the Heat and Bulls reported to play in their respective 10th and 11th game. The Heat was holding a 6 - 3 record and the Bulls carried a 3 - 7 record. Though the teams' records are mirrored, they are equally capable of a winning or losing. This is not a slap against the Heat because their record proves they are a winning team and deserve full credit for their hard work and commitment. The Heat players are winning quietly without noise. At some point, the other teams are going to recognize how good this team really is and begin to target them. The Heat is the second best team, in the league, behind the 10 - 0 NHA Hawks. A lot of the Heat's success belongs to the heavy work of Johnny Sanchez (#15) who is averaging 14 points per game against the biggest players and names in the league. He works diligently to improve in every facet of the his game. I am pleased with the team spirit of the Heat and would like to see them continue to assess their weaknesses and build on their strengths. That is important.
The game started with the Bulls receiving first possession and two points from (#7) Quantez Franklin. The Heat followed up with three points from (#3) Michael Brown to put the Heat ahead by one. The Heat and Bulls would exchange leads six times and tie scores four times in the first half of competition. Michael Brown (#3) led the Heat with eight (8) points by scoring on two 3-point shots and one midrange 2-pointer. Troy McBride (#8) led the Bulls with nine (9) points by scoring on three 3-point shots. Johnny Sanchez, Roger Powell (#55), Sidney Dowlen (#24), and Felton Scott (#31) stabilized the Heat's internal play by combining for 10 points. The Heat narrowly escaped the Bull 26 - 24 to closeout the first half.
The second half really demonstrated the Heat's commitment to camaraderie by having seven players entering points into the scorebook. Roger Powell led with 7 points, Sidney Dowlen added 6 points, Johnny Sanchez muscled in 6 points, Michael Brown scored 5 points, Tracey Cohen chipped in 4 points, Norman King air-pulled a 3-point shot, and Donald Brophy (#13) contributed 1 point.
