Congratulations to Tim Elder for his induction into the National Old School Basketball League Hall of Fame.  Tim is the second inductee selected for the Hall of Fame.  The first inductee was Adolphus West.  Though Tim Elder played eight years in the league, from the day of inception through season XVI, he is being honored for his commitment as a General Manger.

When the idea of starting the league reached the tri-county radius of Muscogee, Chattahoochee, and Russel Counties, Tim Elder, along with Adolphus West, was one of the first individuals to give me a chance at developing a league that would bring players (40 and over) together to play until the desire to play basketball was out of their system.  The other goal was to create an environment for family members to enjoy.  I wanted the children to be around positive adults and observe how adult men and women could compete and shake hands following each game.  The concept was to give children something to recall, as they become adults, to one day give back to the community.  This happened with Tim's daughter, who spent all eight years of her young life associated with the community of families in the National Old School Basketball League.

Tim's team would always fight from the bottom, but he encouraged his players to continue playing throughout the season.  If he was lucky to recruit an "All-star" player, the top teams would seek out and recruit that player away from Tim's team - for the following season, but he would not complain and bring another player or players into the league.  A lot of the players that are playing in the league are here as a result of Tim's recruitment and commitment to the league.  I want to publicly thank Tim Elder for his commitment to the league and for the example he set for others to emulate.  The league will definitely miss Tim and his family, but they will always be legends in the history of the National Old School Basketball League.

His daughter received a medal for volunteering to keep the floors dusted and managing the scoring books.  Love, Peace, and Soul to the Elder family!!!

We will schedule a date for his official Hall of Fame photo.  Please take the time to submit a comment to Tim Elder, the second inductee of the National Old School Basketball League.
