On Thursday, 27 October 2016, the NHA Hawks scrambled the Celtics' signals to remain undefeated.  Quentin Leonard (#3) scored 35 points to add another loss to the defending champions' record.  It was clear, from the start, that the Hawks showed up to win.  Trae Tells (#21) made three 3-pointers along with two from Leonard and one from Kevin Douglas (#10) to keep the Celtics struggling from behind in the first half.

The Celtics' Steve Woodson and Christopher None combined for 25 points to keep their team in competition.  They played much better, in the second half, four players getting into the groove.  James Daniels (#0) led the team with 12 second half points.  Steve Woodson continued his hard-play by producing 11 second half points.

Though the Hawks lost some momentum, in the second half, they hung on to the coat tail of Quentin Leonard to take them down the stretch with 17 points.  The Hawks' aggressiveness and shooting made the Celtics look like a confused team with no plan to combat the assault afflicted on them by the Hawks.

The Hawks outscored the Celtics 46 - 36 in the first half and fell to the Celtics 43 - 37 in the second half.  The Celtics outscored the Hawks 52 - 48 from 2-point range, but the Hawks outdid the Celtics from 3-point range with a 30 - 15 point gap.  The Celtics stayed close by scoring 12 points from the free throw line as opposed to 5 points from the Hawks.  The Hawks held on and defeated the Celtics 83 - 79.

The scorers for the Celtics were:  (#15) Christopher None with 17 points, (#2) Steve Woodson with 25 points, (#1) Al Wilson with 4 points, (#00) Ralph Mathews with 11 points, (#0) James Daniels with 16 points, and (#8) Jerald Mahone with 6 points.

The scorers for the Hawks were:  (#13) Ernest Adams with 4 points, (#14) Shaun Jenkins with 4 points, (#15) Kenyatta Hardge with 15 points, (#3) Quentin Leonard with 35 points, (#21) Trae Tells with 11 points, and (#10) Kevin Douglas with 14 points.
